General Guidelines:

Our mission is to “tell a million tales of y’all means all” and we especially encourage submissions from people of color, indigenous, LGBTQIA+, disabled, current or previously incarcerated, women, and non-binary people.

We will not accept work with gratuitous depictions of violence or sexual abuse.

We do not accept translations at this time.

All submissions must be sent through our Submittable submission portal.

If you have a disability that make Submittable difficult for you to use, please email us at nicole[at]sfkmultimedia[dot]com to make alternative arrangements.

Please include a third-person, publication ready bio of 100 words or less with your submission.

Simultaneous submissions are permitted, but please either withdraw your submission or leave a note notifying us of which pieces are no longer up for consideration.

Copyright reverts to the contributor upon publication. If another venue wishes to re-publish your work after it appears in The New Southern Fugitives, we simply ask that you credit the zine issue in which your work first appeared and tell us so we can promote you!

Every submission is read with care and reviewed multiple times. We do our best to respond within 4 months. If you have not heard from us regarding your submission after 4 months, you may query about its status by emailing nicole[at]sfkmultimedia[dot]com.
