Dear Friends in the Writing Community,

TNSF is going on a temporary hiatus. We will be closed for submissions for the foreseeable future, and we are unable to accept additional pieces out of those already submitted to us at this time. We hope to read more of your work soon, and we’re sending you all the best.

Steve and Mandi

**Please be sure to check the updated guidelines below before submitting.**

General Guidelines:

Our mission is to “tell a million tales of y’all means all” and we especially encourage submissions from indigenous, LGBTQIA+, disabled, current or previously incarcerated, and non-binary people, women, and people of color.

We will not accept work with gratuitous depictions of violence or sexual abuse.

We do not accept translations at this time.

All submissions of Poetry, Fiction, Visual Art, Photography, and Essays (except pitches) must be sent through our Submittable submission portal. Submissions sent through email will be deleted unread.

If you have a disability that makes Submittable difficult for you to use, please email us at zine[at]sfkmultimedia[dot]com to make alternative arrangements.

Please include a third-person, publication-ready bio of 100 words or fewer with your submission.

Simultaneous submissions are permitted, but please either withdraw your submission upon acceptance elsewhere or leave a note notifying us of which pieces are no longer up for consideration.

Please only send us one submission per genre at a time, and please wait at least one month to submit again after receiving a response.

Copyright reverts to the contributor upon publication. If another venue wishes to re-publish your work after it appears in The New Southern Fugitives, we simply ask that you credit the zine issue in which your work first appeared and tell us so we can promote you!

We issue payment upon publication via mailed U.S. check, and are unable to issue payments via other methods. Please keep this in mind when submitting.

Every submission is read with care and reviewed multiple times. We do our best to respond within 4 months. If you have not heard from us regarding your submission after 4 months, you may query about its status by emailing zine[at]sfkmultimedia[dot]com.

We reserve the right to change our guidelines at any time.

Still have questions? Email zine[at]sfkmultimedia[dot]com.

We are currently closed to all submissions.
